Welcome to the Auburn Girls High School Library Website

Picture

We are here to help you with any assignments, research, reading and lots more. We have wonderful resources, comfortable places to sit, people to help you and a beautiful library for you to enjoy. We provide a caring and supportive environment that grows girls into women, by supporting learning outcomes for students and providing curriculum leadership through information literacy and the integration of Information and Communication Technologies in the classroom.

The Library team creates a supportive and responsive learning culture and leads students, teachers, parents and the community in the attainment of learning outcomes by:
        1. Promoting literature through recreational wide reading
        2. Providing resources to support ICT in the classroom
        3. Providing a safe educational space before and after school
        4. Team teaching information literacy and research skills
        5. Supporting the development of research and assessment tasks_

Library Catalogue

Picture
In your portal you have a personal link to the School Library Catalogue - just look for "My Library". You can access this from anywhere (school, home, Auburn Library, a shopping centre with wireless) on the internet.

To find books on a particular subject, just type the keyword in the search box. Make sure you spell it correctly or it will not work.
To find a special book or author, click on the "Titles" or "Names" tab and type the title of the book or surname of the author.

The search will return a list of books, videos, posters, websites and other resources in the library. Click on the tabs or the resources to find out more (and where they are). If you find a useful website, click on the URL and it will take you directly to the website.

Borrowing

Students may borrow 2 fiction and 2 non-fiction books (year 7/8) or 3 fiction and 3 non-fiction books (year 9-12) for 2 weeks.
Books may be reserved for one week. Books not borrowed within one week will be returned to the shelf.

All study guides are overnight loans only and must be returned the following morning so other students can use them.

Printing

Printing is available before school, at recess and lunchtime. Colour printing costs 50c per page; black and white pages cost 10c. Check what you are printing before you hit the print button, otherwise you will be charged for "accidental" printing.

You may also buy a photocopy card for $2 50. This will give you 20 copies. The copying is very simple  - single-sided black and white pages only.

Please do not eat or drink in the library and remember that this space is a mobile-free zone.
